About Curriculum Titlewave

Curriculum Titlewave is the most powerful curriculum development tool on the Internet. On Curriculum Titlewave you will find lists of books that support specific state and/or national curriculum standards, supplemental lists for textbooks and programs, Guided Reading and Leveled Reading lists, lists developed by various state agencies, and lists of books on popular curriculum-related subjects.

The list on the left contains the most frequently asked questions about Curriculum Titlewave. If you need further assistance, look through the questions in the Related Categories or contact our Library Service Consultants.

How do I find lists for my state’s social studies and science standards?

If Follett Library Resources has developed a book list that correlates with your state’s social studies and/or science standards, your state name will appear before the national link next to these standards on the left side of the Curriculum Titlewave home page. Since some states have detailed standards, you may need to click through a few links to reach the actual book lists.

What if my state name doesn’t appear?

If your state name does not appear, it means we haven’t yet developed book lists that correlate with your state’s standards. We are adding states on a regular basis, but in the meantime, look at the book lists based on national standards that are available, or choose a list for a state that has standards that are similar to your state.

Who created the curriculum standards that appear on Titlewave?

State curriculum standards are determined and written by the individual state. These standards appear on Curriculum Titlewave in their original language, without changes.

The national curriculum standards for science were created by the National Academy of Sciences (www.nas.edu). These standards appear on Curriculum Titlewave in their original language, without changes.

The national curriculum standards for social studies were created by the National Council of the Social Studies (www.ncss.org). These standards appear on Curriculum Titlewave in their original language, without changes.

The national curriculum standards for mathematics were created by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (www.nctm.org). These standards appear on Curriculum Titlewave in their original language, without changes.

The curriculum standards for language arts were developed for Follett Library Resources by degreed professionals with experience in K-12 reading instruction and integrating language arts curriculum into K-12 literary programs.

Who created the book lists for the state and national curriculum standards?

These lists were created by consultants of Follett Library Resources, all of whom are, or have been, library or teaching professionals.

Can I search curriculum standards for states besides my own?

Once you have clicked any of the links in the Browse Book Lists for Curriculum Standards section, several links will appear in the blue sidebar on the left side of your screen. Click on the Other State & National Curriculum Standards link. This will take you to a screen that displays all the state and national curriculum standards for which we have developed book lists.

Are there lists for every topic?

No, there are not. There are three main reasons why we are unable to correlate books to every standard/topic. They are:

  • The information is not typically found in book format. This can include local history, local issues, local government documents, etc. that are specific to that state. In those situations, Follett Library Resources recommends that you check area newspapers, local history collections, community web sites, and local government documents.
  • At the current time, there are no books that relate to the standard/topic.
  • The books available are not age- and/or interest-level appropriate.

Where do I find supplemental lists for textbooks?

Curriculum Titlewave provides you with easy access to supplemental lists that have been developed by various textbook publishers. On the Curriculum Titlewave home page, click the “Supplemental Lists for Textbooks” link within the Browse Other Book Lists area. Click the link for the textbook publisher you are interested in then click the link for the appropriate textbook program.

Where can I find lists that relate to popular K-12 subjects?

On the Curriculum Titlewave home page, select the Popular Subjects Lists link in the Browse Other Book Lists section.

What kinds of lists are included in the Customized State Lists link in the Browse Other Book Lists section on the Curriculum Titlewave home page?

The lists available in this section vary from state to state but may include state award lists, state-prepared bibliographies, state authors and themes, etc.

Where can I find guided leveled reading materials?

On the Curriculum Titlewave home page, click the Guided Reading and Leveled Reading Lists link under the Browse Other Book Lists section. This section includes Fountas & Pinnell Guided Reading Lists, Follett Library Resources Leveled Reading Lists, Lucy Calkins Guided/Classroom Reading Lists, Reading Recovery® lists, and many more.

When navigating through Curriculum Titlewave, what if I forget how I got to the list on my screen?

At the top of the screen, look for the “breadcrumbs” of links that show you the steps of how you got to the list you are currently looking at. By clicking on any of the links you can go back to a page you came from previously.

What’s the purpose of the Show Me an Index link on the left side of the screen?

If you click on a Curriculum Standards link or Other Book Lists link on the Curriculum Titlewave home page, the Show Me an Index link will appear. This link takes you to an outline of the book lists that are available for the section you are viewing.

How do I search for topics within curriculum standards or lists?

If you click on a Curriculum Standards link or Other Book Lists link on the Curriculum Titlewave home page, a search field will be on the left side of the new page. Enter your topic/subject search, select the “Topics & Lists” button, then click Go. This searches the text of the standard you are on and down.

What’s the purpose of the “Show All Bindings” button in the upper-right corner of some Curriculum Titlewave lists?

Since FollettBound bindings have a lifetime guarantee, prepared lists on Curriculum Titlewave have a FollettBound binding preference. If Follett Library Resources carries the title in both FollettBound and hardbound versions, only the FollettBound appears on the prepared list. When you click the “Show All Bindings” button, the hardbound versions of all appropriate titles will also appear on the list.
