What is Titlewave?
Titlewave is the most powerful collection development and curriculum support tool available online. Using Titlewave you can create, store, and print lists, get price quotes, and order online.
Through Titlewave you can access over one million available K-Adult books and curriculum-related audiovisual materials. Titlewave has easy-to-use search tools to help you find exactly what you’re looking for.
TitleWise Online Collection Analysis helps you identify the strengths and areas of needs of your school and district collections. TitleWise gives you the ability to view and print reports, graphs, and charts that help you focus on areas of your collection that need improvement. Our customers use TitleCheck™ to match titles they own against titles available in Titlewave to help with purchasing and weeding decisions.
What is Collection Development?
A Collection Development search is a detailed search. You can enter up to 13 criteria for your search, including reviews, awards, Dewey numbers, and keywords. Collection Development allows you to be very specific about what you are looking for or browse through a wide range of titles by choosing which criteria to use in your search.
What browser do I need?
Follett Library Resources recommends that you always use the latest version of Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer users who have version 5.5 or lower need to log in using our standard site. If you aren’t experiencing any problems with Titlewave, the browser you have on your computer is fine.
Can I use Titlewave at home?
Titlewave is available to use anywhere you have a computer and an Internet connection.
Why are some titles unavailable?
Titlewave’s inventory is updated daily. Publishers frequently change the availability of titles, and we stay on top of current title availability. If a title is unavailable, it will have an alert message to explain why, and you will not be able to add it to a list. If a title that you already have on a list becomes unavailable, it will also have an alert message to let you know.
What is a Free Order Typing Service Request?
Follett Library Resources’ Free Order Typing Service saves you hours of preparing title lists, checking for duplicates, reviewing prices, and adding columns of figures. You can take the contents of your consideration file — including handwritten notes, copies of reviews, pages from catalogs, or lists from any other source— provide any special instructions, and send it to us. Within 10 working days, we will post a detailed listing of all available titles to your Titlewave account, or fax, mail, or e-mail it to you, depending on your preference. We will also return your original consideration file. When you are ready, you can create a list on Titlewave and order online. You can also attach the listing to your purchase order and mail it to Follett Library Resources as an order, using the new postage-paid envelope we include with your returned file.
How are reading levels determined?
Reading levels are based on actual difficulty of the words, grammar, sentence structure, etc., used in a book. The first number is the year in school and the second number is the month. A reading level of 5.2 means that a student in the second month of fifth grade should be able to read the book without much difficulty. Reading Levels range from 1.0 through 8.9. Any grade above 8.9 is considered Young Adult and will not have a Reading Level displayed.
What are interest levels?
Interest levels are based on the subject/content of the book and target the most appropriate grade ranges for potential readers. An interest level of 3-6 means that the subject/content of the book is appropriate for students in the third through sixth grades.
What do the “p” and “c” designations stand for?
When viewing titles on a search or list in Titlewave you may notice a “p” and/or “c” along with a year next to it. The “p” stands for publication year and the “c” stands for copyright year. These characters are merely for clarification purposes in Titlewave.

Accelerated Reader
To search for titles, you must first make sure you have Accelerated Reader options activated for your account. To check, go to the Your Account page. Check the Reading Program boxes that are relavent to your school and click Save. Next, use the search bar at the top of the screen. Before clicking Go, change the drop-down menu to read "Accelerated Reader". This will limit the results to only Accelerated Reader books.
Graphic novel notice
A graphic novel is a full-length story (fiction or nonfiction) that is illustrated in a comic-book style. Graphic novels appeal to a wide audience of K-12 readers. These books are visually appealing and can help struggling readers with reading comprehension.
There are many different genres of graphic novels, and as a result, some may be inappropriate in content for school-aged audiences. Follett Library Resources respects the right of our customers to decide what items they will purchase for school use. We believe that the ultimate decision as to what to purchase lies with you, the customer.
If you are concerned about purchasing graphic novels for your collection, these tips may be useful in making your decision:
- Pay attention to the interest level of the titles you are considering. Remember, interest levels are based on the subject/content of the book and target the most appropriate grade ranges for potential readers. Graphic novels with YA or AD interest level designations may contain explicit subjects and/or illustrations.
- Use review sources to obtain more information about content.
- Click the title’s “More Info” button on Titlewave. Read through the title’s Notes and Subjects information, as well as any full-text reviews that are available.
- Ask your peers for recommendations.
Public Performance Rights
Librarians and teachers often ask whether audiovisual materials may be used in a classroom without the copyright owner’s permission. The Copyright Act permits teachers and students at nonprofit educational institutions to play sound and video recordings without Public Performance Rights — including those marked “For Home Use Only” — in a face-to-face instructional setting. In addition, performances can be broadcast within a school via open or closed circuit systems for simultaneous, multiclassroom listening or viewing, provided the broadcast comes from and remains on the school grounds.
